MEET the coordinators
Marissa Blumenthal I’m originally from Michigan where I lived until I was 18. I then decided to travel as far south as I could to get away from the frozen Tundra (literally this winter has been crazy up there) to Houston, where I attended UH for undergrad and I swam on the varsity team for 3 years. During my time at UH, I also thought I should make the most of my undergrad experience and decided to join a sorority, Chi Omega. I studied Pre-pharmacy for 3 years and then was admitted into UHCOP. |
My hobbies include, but are not limited to…underwater basket weaving, Bikram Yoga, making mosaic tile pieces, Raku firing and wheel throwing, acrylic painting, and sports in general. Currently I’m coaching for Houston Cougars Aquatic Sports - so yes, it is possible to have a part time job while in Pharmacy school. I cannot wait to meet all of you during orientation and welcome to the UHCOP family! |

Hello, everyone! I was born and raised in Fort Worth and have lived in Texas all my life (it's only a coincidence that my birthday falls on Texas Independence Day)! For undergrad, I went to Baylor University located in the small town of Waco, TX. Before entering pharmacy school, I obtained a Bachelor of Arts in Biochemistry with a minor in Biology as well as 3 years of pharmacy work experience. I've had a great experience so far at UHCOP and definitely consider it as my second home (that just so happens require studying and |
test-taking). I can't deny that pharmacy school istough but that doesn't mean that you won't have a life while in the program. Since starting pharmacy school, the biggest lesson I've had to really learn is to find a balance between my studies and having fun (and sleep). In the little free-time that I have, I enjoy discovering new eateries, skyping with my little nephews, eating Snickers, playing sports, and running (when I say running, I mean jogging) in the great outdoors. Looking forward to meeting y'all! |
Marc Tran Hey guys! I was born in Wichita, Kansas, until I moved around the age of four or five. I’ve lived in Houston for most of my life, and I’ve been living here ever since! Prior to UHCOP, I did my two years of undergrad at UH (Go Coogs!) taking classes to pursue a pharmacy. Pharmacy school is definitely a whole new jungle! Without a doubt, pharmacy school is the toughest challenges I’ve encounter thus far in life, and I’m sure it won’t be the last! |
It definitely takes time to get used to by juggling class studies, work, extracurriculars and a social life, but I don’t regret choosing to attend UH after meeting so many amazing people that are now my closest friends and second family. In my free time, I love to talk about cars, going out to eat (definitely eating!), hanging out with friends and having a good time. I can’t wait for y’all to join the family, and again, congratulations everyone! |
Katie Bohmfalk Hi P1s! I’m originally from Hondo, Texas (a small town around 45 minutes west of San Antonio.) I graduated from the University of Texas at Austin with a Bachelor of Arts in Biology in May 2013, and absolutely LOVED my time there. I am that typical small town girl but love to experience new things in big cities. An interesting fact about me is that I am actually a triplet! My brother Zach is in pharmacy school at Incarnate Word, and my sister Megan is a middle school science teacher. I also have a younger sister who is at Texas A&M in College Station. I am happy to say |
I am the only one of my siblings that bleeds burnt orange, hook ‘em! I am so proud to be a Houston Cougar and part of one of the best pharmacy schools in the country. After graduation, I hope to work in a community pharmacy back in my hometown of Hondo. In my little spare time I like to watch television (Grey’s Anatomy, Scandal, The Bachelor, anyone?), hang out with my fellow Houstonians, and go on adventures! I am really looking forward to meeting all of you in August and want to officially welcome you all into this amazing family! |
Meena Mabbu Hello and welcome to UHCOP P1's! My name is Meena Mabbu and I'm a P1 at the college of Pharmacy! I was born and raised in Houston, TX, and earned a Bachelor of Science in Human Nutrition and Foods at the University of Houston. I value hard work, and strongly believe that you can achieve anything with determination and confidence. UHCOP fosters an environment filled with great opportunities, challenges, and of course tons of fun! After my first semester, I have |
become more aware of the diversity in pharmacy and was able to create friendships that will last a lifetime. My passion for pharmacy has grown, and I can not wait to see what the future holds! I enjoy staying active by working out in my spare time, or just relaxing with my family or friends. I love meeting new people, and I look forward to getting to know each one of you all! If you have any questions, please feel free to ask anything! |
